A pioneering study by the Danish Pig Research Centre has confirmed pig sociability as a possible relevant trait in DanBred breeding goals. This new trait will add to the genetic progress. Positive social behaviour among pigs enhance the growth of pen mates and this tendency is passed down from generation to generation. In other words, it is heritable.
