Does feeder type really matter?

Feeder type is considered to be one of the key determinants of feed intake and profitability in pig production. Research at the Agricultural Research Institute of Northern Ireland funded by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Pig Production Development Committee has investigated the effect of feeder type and feeding regimes on feed intake and growth rate of growing and finishing pigs. The results from two key studies within this area are summarised below.
