PED revisited – how did Manitoba cope in 2017?

Porcine Epidemic Diarrhoea (PED), wasn’t that a virus that happened a few years ago? Well, not exactly. The Canadian province of Manitoba fought another wave in the summer of 2017. What happened and how did Manitoba deal with it? Dr Glen Duizer, an animal health surveillance veterinarian with the chief veterinary office of Manitoba said time will tell whether Manitoba’s swine industry will ultimately eliminate the PED virus. On 29 April 2017, the first of what would grow to 80 cases of Porc
