How many antibiotics should be used? That is the question in many countries. A trial at Canada’s Prairie Swine Centre showed that when piglets are raised in a high health situation, the use of in-feed antibiotics post-weaning had no benefit, regardless of weaning age. Weaning is a stressful time in a piglet’s life. During this time, they are exposed to three major stressors (nutritional, environmental and social).
