Topigs Norsvin partners with Muyuan Foods in China

On 30 June, construction began on a breeding nucleus near Wuwei in Gansu province, China. The new unit, which is a joint venture between Topigs Norsvin and Muyuan Foods, will have a capacity of 1,200 sows and will house both dam lines and terminal lines. It forms the basis of a breeding infrastructure that will provide high-quality genetics for Muyuan and other producers in China.

Swine supplier in the Philippines partners with DanBred

To revive southern Philippines’ swine industry after African Swine Fever, Maharlika Agro Ventures Corporation has partnered with DanBred to launch a P2.8 billion, 2,500-sow Grandparent Generation genetic farm in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, to support producers in Visayas and Mindanao.

Cargill to acquire Mig-Plus, expanding animal nutrition business in Brazil

Cargill is set to acquire 100% of the operations of Mig-Plus, a family-owned company specialising in animal nutrition solutions for multiple species, primarily swine and ruminants, with a product portfolio that includes premixes, feed concentrates, and complete feeds. Founded in 1991, Mig-Plus is headquartered in Casca, Rio Grande do Sul, and operates 2 facilities with about 450 employees. 

Kemin Industries acquires Hennessy Research Associates 

Kemin Industries has announced the acquisition of Hennessy Research Associates, which specialises in the research and development of vaccines for infectious diseases of animals and is skilled in the biological manufacturing processes, in vitro test development, lab animal and host animal challenge model development, and USDA ELISA Reference Requalification methods.

Roxell introduces Discaflex and iQon Multifast

Roxell‘s new Discaflex feed transport system offers tailored capacities for different farm sizes, with drive units delivering 800 kg/h for circuits up to 200 m and 1,400 kg/h for circuits up to 400 m. It handles both meal and pellet feed. The company has also introduced iQon Multifast – the upgraded version of its advanced batch feeding system. Multifast, the Roxell batch feeding system combined with a weigher/mixer, will from now on also be controlled by the smart iQon control platform, resulting in an improvement in user-friendliness and precision in feed management for pig houses. 

Renaissance BioScience partners with VIDO 

Renaissance BioScience and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization have received US$600,000 from the Saskatchewan Agricultural Development Fund for 2 projects. One project focuses on oral yeast-based vaccines for porcine epidemic diarrheal virus and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus, while the other improves gut health, immunity, and growth in piglets.

DSM-Firmenich releases results of its mycotoxin survey

DSM-Firmenich has released the results of the World Mycotoxin Survey from January to June 2025. Some 10,868 samples were collected and analysed from 81 countries, resulting in 53,382 analyses. Deoxynivalenol, zearalenone and fumonisins mycotoxins were most frequently found, with the highest regions of mycotoxins found in North, Central and South America, South Asia, China and Taiwan.
