Global meat production increased from 180mt to almost 250mt (+39%) between 1990 and 2003 and pigmeat production increased form 70mt to over95mt (+37%). While the contribution of pigmeat to global meat production has remained fairly stable over more than a decade, the regional pattern of production has changed considerably.
