At the risk of being boring, I came across two articles, which were of interest, in the ongoing debate over veterinary use of antimicrobials. The first was looking at antimicrobial resistance patterns in Hungarian Escherichia coli from man and animals (Szmolka et al, 2012) and the second of clinical importance regarding resistance in Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae isolates in Italy.   Escherichia coli are ubiquitous organisms primarily living in the gut but can cause clinical infections,
