Salmonella incidence reduced via water

A 300-sow integrated pig unit in Ireland had two major concerns: repeated high Salmonella ELISA scores; and, high TBCs (Total Bacteria Counts) from a deep well water source. Evidence from previous field studies in poultry production indicated positive benefits, in terms of reduced Salmonella incidence¹ and improved water quality¹`² by the introduction of water disinfection using sodium dichloroisocyanurate.
