A balancing act – mineral requirements versus environmental pollution

As pig barns have become larger and amassed several thousands of pigs per operation, there is a growing concern about the millions of tonnes of waste effluent from nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and high trace mineral concentrations that are produced each year.
