Torque teno virus (TTV) is a small, non-enveloped virus with a circular single-stranded DNA genome, belonging to the family Anelloviridae, genus Iotatorquevirus and widely distributed in different animal species and humans. In swine, two genetically distinct genogroups have been identified, Torque teno sus virus 1 (TTV1) and 2 (TTV2). No clear-cut pathogenic role of TTVs has been demonstrated so far.
