In many ways, Jolbertal Farm, located near Lleida in northern Spain, chooses to go its own way. Combining technology with welfare, owner Ramon Pujol can monitor in detail how his sows on straw are performing. Deep down, sows have always remained the piglets they once were. After all, sow behaviour in group housing looks remarkably similar to that of weaner pigs.
