
The battle against Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) continues in Greece, with the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) reporting a further 12 outbreaks in the country. So far, no outbreaks have involved any pigs.
Late March 2026, the total number of outbreaks in Pelopi, the North Aegean Region in Greece, stood at 5. The WOAH now reports a further 12 outbreaks. The new outbreaks are located in Pelopi, Lesvos and Napis.

The serotype in Greece is confirmed as SAT-1, with a total number of outbreaks at 17, which equates to 3,909 susceptible animals (sheep/cattle and goats) and 282 cases in total in the country to date (30 March).
